Privacy policy

Bridal Shower Getaway is run by Book Shortlet (“we”, “us”), Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit bridalshowergetaway.com, book a getaway or join a guest list, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have. We follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

What we collect

• Booking details: the lead booker’s name, phone number and email, the bride’s name, your chosen home, dates, number of ladies, extras, theme, notes and how you heard about us.
• Payment details: payments are made through Paystack. We never see or store your full card or bank details. We keep the payment reference, amount, date and status.
• Guest list details: each lady’s name and WhatsApp number (email is optional), and, if she chooses to share them, her dietary needs, food allergies, massage pressure, whether she is pregnant and anything the massage therapist should know about her health. Health details are sensitive, so we only collect them with her consent.
• Group details: expected arrival time, car plate numbers for the estate gate and an emergency contact.
• Offers sign-up: your name, email and WhatsApp number if you sign up for our discount code or tick “send me offers”.
• Technical details: the IP address and time when you accept our terms, the ad or link that brought you to us, and check-in records when you arrive.

Why we use it

• To take and manage your booking, take payment, send confirmations, receipts, reminders and your check-in QR code (to perform our contract with you).
• To prepare your stay: the chef gets food needs and allergies, the massage therapist gets massage and health notes, and estate security gets names and car plates for the gate (to perform our contract, and with consent for health details).
• To send offers and news, only if you agreed. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email (consent).
• To keep our homes, guests and website safe, prevent fraud and understand which adverts work (our legitimate interests).
• To keep financial records required by law (legal obligation).

Who we share it with

• Paystack, to process payments and refunds.
• Our chef and massage therapist, only the food and health details they need for your stay.
• Estate security, only names and car plates needed for gate access.
• Service providers who run our website and email: Hostinger (web hosting) and Google (email). They only process data on our instructions.
• Authorities, if the law requires it.

We do not sell your personal information. Some of our providers may store data outside Nigeria. When that happens we rely on the safeguards allowed under the Nigeria Data Protection Act.

How long we keep it

• Food, allergy and health details on guest lists are deleted automatically 30 days after check-out.
• Booking and payment records are kept for up to 6 years to meet tax and accounting rules.
• Offers sign-ups are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.

Cookies and browser storage

We use a small number of essential cookies and browser storage: one remembers your guest list entry on your device for up to 120 days so you can edit it, and others remember a discount code or the advert that brought you to us during your visit. Staff logins use WordPress cookies. Our hosting provider may use technical cookies to keep the site secure and fast. We do not use advertising cookies. If that changes, we will update this policy.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, receive a copy, object to how we use it or withdraw your consent at any time. Email booking@bookshortlet.com and we will reply within 30 days. If you are unhappy with how we handled your information, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (ndpc.gov.ng).

Keeping it safe

Our website uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Booking and guest list details are only available to our team through password-protected accounts, and guest list links are private to each booking.

Age

Bookings must be made by adults aged 18 or over.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
